Birmingham Profits Up

09/01/2005

Good performances on and off the pitch have meant that Birmingham City has been able to report a 61 per cent rise in pre-tax profits from £3.3m to £5.6m in year to 31 August. During the year the club spent £12m on players including the purchases of Emile Heskey and Dwight Yorke. Turnover rose 24 per cent from £36.5m to £45.3m. The club's plans for a new 50,000 stadium depend on the city being granted one of eight regional casino licences.
