The businessmen hoping to take over Aston Villa for £64.4m are hopeful that a deal can be completed with chairman Doug Ellis before the new year. Bid frontman Michael Neville said Irish property developers Brian and Luke Comer are going through the accounts. They have met with 'Deadly Doug Ellis' who was described by Neville as 'most charming and accommodating'. Given that he should be quids in from the deal, this is not so surprising. Neville, an ardent Villa fan, has big plans to revive the sleeping giant of the Midlands which has been comatose for many years. He sees Champions League football at Villa Park within three years as a realistic target.
