Sheffield United have announced that they are about to acquire Chinese second division club Chengdu Five Bull, indicating the continuing interest of clubs outside the Premiership in the Chinese market (Stockport County even had a Chinese club re-named after them after playing in front of large crowds in China). With the Blades pressing for promotion, their average crowd so far this season is 22,434, an increase of 14 per cent on last year. However, part of the price of success is that players' wages have gone up so an operating loss is projected for this season. Shares in the AIM listed club are currently valued at 17.5p.
