'We Don't Hate Them' - Californians Take Stake in Millwall - 19/09/2004

Lonestar Partners, a Californian hedge fund, have built up a 10.9 per cent stake in Millwall and is now the club's largest shareholder. Evidently they have not heard the chant 'Everyone hates us, we don't care.' A spokesman for San Francisco based Lonestar said that they had been 'supportive of Millwall for some time' and believed that the club was 'significantly undervalued'. Millwall recently reported a much-reduced pre-tax loss of £103,000 for the year to 31 May 2004, down from £4.68m in 2002-3. The club's FA cup run helped to raise turnover from £6.5m to £10.2m and the improvement was aided by a £2.74m profit on player disposals.
