United try to make Glazer put up or shut up - 15/11/2004

Manchester United are following a strategy of increasing the pressure on Malcolm Glazer to clarify whether he intends to make a hostile bid for the club. The board is seeking a meeting with Mr Glazer and also with Cubic Expression, the investment vehicle of horseracing tycoons JP McManus and John Magnier. The pair failed to respond last week to efforts to get them to cast their votes in elections to the United board. 'This is not a tenable situation', the club said. 'The board wants to move things forward.' United will also considering contacting the Takeover Panel, the City regulator, to 'discuss options'. They could force Glazer's hands by demanding that he either make a bid for the club or hold off from bidding for another nine to twelve months.
