The controversial bid by Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to bid for a stake in Liverpool 'on behalf of the Thai people' is effectively over. The bid is now being led by GMM Grammy, Thailand's largest music company. However, Advanced Info Services, the mobile phone company founded by the prime minister and still controlled by his family, has been identified as a likely participant in the bidding consortium. Grammy's chairman Paiboon Damringchaitam said that he would soon fly to the UK for talks with Liverpool.
