Rotherham have denied media reports that the relegation threatened Division 1 club is on the brink of going into administration, a development that would bring them a penalty of a ten point deduction. The club had announced that they were £1.6m in the red following a loss of more than £730,000 for the financial year ending 31 May 2003. It had also been suggested that chairman Ken Booth was thinking of bringing his financial support for the club to an end. The club's statement said that Ken Booth is 'fully committed to the club for the immediate future and his company will continue to underwrite the overdraft as they have done since 1987'. Some might think that the phrase 'immediate future' leaves a question mark over the longer run.
